BEND, OREGON (June 1, 2014) — Anouk Tapper was the graphic designer behind the Central Oregon Visitors Association’s win of the Western Publishing Association 2014 Maggie award for Best Visitors Guide with a circulation over 75,000. The Maggie Awards are produced annually by the Western Publishing Association to honor excellence in print, web and digital magazines printed or distributed in the western United States.
As a collaborator on Deschutes Media’s custom publishing team, Creative Director Anouk Tapper developed a strong visual identity that supported the magazine’s redesign objectives to expand market share for Central Oregon tourism, and increase advertising revenue for the publication.
“We wanted to position Central Oregon as the perfect destination for year-round vacationing, and showcase its many business and real estate opportunities in an inviting and exciting format. The cover image invites the viewer to ‘come along with us’ into the region’s mountain lifestyle. The layout’s simple graphics showcase the publication’s excellent photography, and the content design organizes the editorial into exciting lifestyle categories. “
The Maggie Awards Committee reviewed the 2013 Central Oregon Visitors Guide and based their judgment for the nomination on ten editorial and design criteria including cover, layout, design format, typography, readability, research, editorial components, and graphic and editorial devices.
